Beech Bend Super Star Talent Show
Crowns Landri Taylor
After a talent packed, two hour finale, Landri Taylor
of Bethpage, Tennessee was crowned the winner of Beech Bend's 2009 Superstar
Contest. Taylor sang the Faith Hill and Tim McGraw hit song "Like You've
Never Loved Before" and scored enough to finish in a tie with runner-up, and
recent Bowling Green Idol winner, Morgantown, KY native Kyle Whitaker. By
virtue of a predetermined tiebreaker system, Taylor was announced as the
winner. Elena Korol of Portland, TN finished in third place with 86 of a
possible 100 points.
The park experimented with a talent show in the style of popular shows like
American Idol and Nashville Star. All season long, the park held weekly
auditions where the weekly winners were invited back for the September 12th
finale. Fourteen weekly winners, and two hand picked "Wild-Card" competitors
performed in front of a 12 member judging panel.
Sherry Harper Clouse, the park's Group Ticket Sales coordinator produced the
weekly talent search, along with Disciple Productions founder Robin White,
of Portland, TN and Kentucky radio personality David Gary who also served as
the host of the program.
Cliff Williamson, Chief Operating Officer of Starstruck Entertainment, along
with Precias Tomes of Porter-Gentry Music joined Bowling Green Hotrods Media
Director Tom Gauthier, Professional Bull Rider Jeremy Miller, WGGC talk show
host Renita Cook on the judging panel. Also scoring the competition were
performing artist Trent Dunn, Nashville Recording Artist Derek Joseph,
Portland Leader editor Sonya Thompson, PCG-Nashville Music executive Sam
Tempe, CMT award winning Video Producer Mike Harris, in addition to
musicians Darlene Wells and Billy Roberts.
Landri has been singing and dancing since age 3. Her versatility in dancing
includes ballroom, country, ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, modern and she's
just been introduced to Shag dancing. She loves and has a great respect and
admiration for her mother - who taught her about God and showed her and her
late brothers to love life and never take it for granted. Her passion is
singing and dancing, but above all, Taylor says she loves the Lord.
"I saw the quote, 'Success is focusing the full power of all you are on what
you have a burning desire to achieve.' I follow that and do it all in His
name. If anyone can attest to going through trials and tribulations, but
still believing in your dreams and seeing Him work in your life, I can. It's
all in your attitude and I feel truly blessed."
After graduating at the age of 16 from Carver Center for Arts and
Technology, a performing arts school, Taylor began singing at an exclusive
restaurant where the Board of Directors auditioned her to sing at the
Chesapeake Country Music Festival. Landri has had the experience of opening
for Travis Tritt, Jo Dee Messina, Ty Herndon and Aaron Tippin before a crowd
of approximately 25,000 in her hometown.
At 19, Landri was asked to be the Lead singer of "Country Plus". She went
with them on a Department of Defense Tour and performed overseas in military
bases in and around Seoul, Korea; Tokyo and Okinawa, Japan; Honolulu,
Hawaii; Johnston Atoll and Guam, USA (where she went skydiving). At 22, she
opened for Chely Wright before another audience of approximately 25,000.
Taylor will have an opportunity to headline a special concert at Bowling
Green's Beech Bend Park in October. Taylor will perform a mix of originals
and cover songs with backup help from country music star Josh Turner's
backup band. Stay tuned for details on this free concert event.

Beech Bend Park was very
excited when the Sea Dragon was purchased from Michael Jackson's Neverland
Ranch. While Michael's life was controversial at times, his contribution
to the music world is legendary. With Michael's passing, we have been
overwhelmed with calls and visits from fans wanting to ride the Sea Dragon from
Neverland. It's a great ride! |
